Through many forms of advocacy, we aim to encourage and facilitate involvement in prison reform, demonstrating that those locked away are not forgotten. Decimating already marginalized communities, imprisonment figuratively and literally removes whole blocks of populations from our communities. The presence of this absence of large numbers of individuals is felt more by certain communities than others – people of color and poor people continue to be disproportionately shuffled into cells and locked away for years at a time. Our mission is to come together and refuse to accept the unacceptable, to provide a forum for all levels of involvement, and most importantly, to refuse to be silent and act decisively to promote essential change in the unconscionable levels and inhumane structure and forms of imprisonment in California.
