BayAreaBenefit.org was originally launched to support an October 9, 2009, fundraiser for the victims of Typhoon Ondoy (led by Keesa Ocampo) and was later used to promote a December 2009 toy drive for the children surviving disasters in the Samoas (led by Manufou Liaiga Anoa’i) and then a December 2009 blanket, jacket and toy drive for the homeless (led by Keesa Ocampo and Jules Vano).
Bay Area Benefit is in the process of State registration for nonprofit status.
Bay Area Benefit’s objective is to encourage everyday philanthropy to everyone who can get involved at any level.
Its mission is to serve the disenfranchised, under-represented and distressed members of San Francisco Bay Area communities through ‘guerilla philanthropy’ – the practice of identifying needs and contributing to filling those needs through grassroots events, activities or initiatives constructed quickly, strategically and at low- or no cost.”
