Events Benefiting Survivors of Typhoon Ondoy Raise $20,000

Three events held in October raising funds to benefit the victims of Typhoon Ketsana/Ondoy in the Philippines attracted donations totaling approximately $15,000 $20,000, according to a fundraising report sent out today by Keesa Ocampo, the event chair of the benefit held Oct. 9 at Lot 46 in San Francisco.
The Lot 46 event and two other fundraisers held in late October, an event by DineForChange held at Horizon Restaurant and Lounge and a Halloween benefit held at 5A5 Steak Lounge, contributed to the fundraising total.
All proceeds were donated to ABS-CBN Foundation-USA, which to date has raised $614,000.
The quick response and amazing energy by the event organizers inspired more fundraising efforts across the Bay Area. Checks continue to pour in to ABS-CBN Foundation-USA. And many donors to the flood relief are first-time supporters and non-Filipino.
ABS-CBN Foundation has served more than 700,000 families. The continued support today includes maintaining the evacuation centers where survivors are still housed. The Foundation has helped install portable showers, establish hot soup kitchens, clean up schools and ramp up medical missions.
“Many Filipinos will spend the holidays in these centers, but we are all steadfast in our prayers of thanksgiving for second chances, for life and for a global outpour of love,” said Ocampo.
Ocampo expressed her deep gratitude to the numerous individuals and organizations involved in the three fundraisers:
